Now that’s a no-no: Bailey does it twice over
The last pitcher to throw a no-hitter last year is the first to do it in 2013.
Bailey issued a lead-off walk to San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco Tuesday, before retiring the last 27 batters he faced. He struck out nine and threw 109 pitches.
It was his second no-hitter since September 28. The last pitcher to throw the league’s last two no-hitters was Nolan Ryan, who did it between 1974 to 1975.
Bailey became the 28th pitcher in MLB history to throw multiple no-hitters, joining Ryan (seven), Sandy Koufax (four), Bob Feller, Cy Young and Larry Corcoran (three each). Among active pitchers Roy Halladay, Mark Buehrle and Justin Verlander have two.
