Keeping their promise to bolt out of last place, the Miami Marlins signed infielder Chone Figgins. The Arizona Diamondbacks were in the race too, but Kevin Towers balked at the $1 asking price because “he hasn’t played shortstop in a long ass time.” Towers however called Figgins’ light  middle infield bat “enticing,” while congratulating the Lorias on a successful dumpster dive.
